‘A Moment’
I’m sure everyone reads the news, checks emails, responds to (or actively avoids) text messages, or is wanting to run away because too much life is happening at once. And there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight of the things that are causing us stress (no one told me this is what it feels like to be a millennial getting older). While we each handle our problems alone, I truly believe in the bigger picture we are all going through it together. And I am going through it. I’ve been getting so lost in my own mind that many details I wouldn’t have missed have been missed.
It made me question how do I get away from this? How do I take back control of this stretch of life that has been dragging me through it?
My answer: I can’t control it. But the one thing I can do is change my perspective on how I see life happening. Everything I do is happening with life. And though it continues to happen, my current place in it is controlled by me. I began to understand I had to take a moment to look at the things around me. To become intentional in my daily life and cut through the noise to see everything that has been passing me by.
Through art I was able to give life to how I went from overwhelmed to being able to take a moment and look at the life around me I’ve created. This is something we can all do. I made this piece to represent how life is always going to move, with or without us, but what we can do is take a moment to be present, really understand our purpose in everything you do, and don’t let the details pass us by.
